Description
Audo was developped by the developer of Sound Strider for the GMTK game jam 2020. It's a futuristic arcade racing game in the style of something like Light Cars, where your goal is to survive as long as possible while dodging other cars. What sets Audo apart however is that just like Sound Strider, all of the game audio is synthesized in real-time, giving it a retro, tron-esc sci-fi vibe, and the game audio is binaural making it much more immersive.
How to play as described by the developer:
Your racer accelerates fastest in the center lane and is destroyed when it collides with an opponent. After each lap an opponent enters the fray and a power-up is spawned in the center lane. Collecting the power-up grants a shield which absorbs the next collision. Subsequent power-ups while shielded grant a 50% speed boost. Stay close to the center, collect speed boosts, and avoid opponents to achieve the highest score. Will you become the fastest in the galaxy?
Like Sound Strider, Audo is written using web technologies. It can be played in the browser from its Itch page linked as the "download" page above, or downloaded as a standalone Windows or Mac application. If you decide to download those versions, you can do so for free, though a donation is encouraged. The game's source code is also available on the developer's blog, also linked above.
