Description

Perceptron is a new incremental game which is based around the idea of building and training a neural network. The concepts behind a neural network have been distilled to their essence in this idle simulation. Not to say the game is simple. Sure, it starts simple with only nodes, training, and data, but soon balloons into a complex idle game with prestige and upgrades. Not to mention offline support. Take on the role of a young undergraduate student as you become quite the idle tycoon. Soon you’ll be rivaling even GPT–3. Perceptron is not just another idle clicker. It was designed around the idea of training a neural network and has taken inspiration from many neural network topics. Who knows, you might even end up learning something.

As the official description quoted above says, perceptron turns machine learning concepts into a very approachable and fully accessible idle game. No doubt you’ve heard buzzwords like machine learning, AI or neural nets, which now power just about anything imaginable. If you ever wondered just how much effort and processing power it takes to train one, this game illustrates it perfectly. To start building out your model, you need to supply it with data to train on. Once you do, your model will get smarter, allowing you to make it even faster by buying additional layers to train as well as opening up more possibilities of getting more data. This will eventually open up a shop allowing you to buy more computers which, you guessed it, can be used to improve your model further. And no idle game would be complete without some kind of prestige system, letting you eventually reset your progress and start over, while getting permanent upgrades for your next session to let you get further. Perceptron doesn’t disappoint in that area either, with subsequent resets (called ensembles) progressing the game’s story unlocking additional upgrades for you to work toward.

The interface is very simple and easy to navigate. At the top, you will always see the most important stats, such as your model power and how much money you have. Tapping on your model power will allow you to retrain once you meet the goal for your current task. Depending on how far you are in the game you will also see some additional buttons here to start a boost, or go into the research upgrades screen, as well as visit the game settings which also contain the help section. The rest of the screen will. depend on what tab you’re on, which can be selected from the bottom. This is where you’ll spend most of your time, either buying new nodes for your model, obtaining additional training data or buying more computing power.

The game can be downloaded for free for both iOS and Android. The game is free to play, however there is a one-time $10 purchase available, called a pro unlock, that automatically doubles any income you make after returning to the app as well as permanently boosting all production by 10 times. Without this purchase, to double production or enable a boost you can watch an ad, with a boost enabled this way lasting for 4 hours before needing to be restarted.

As is usual with Ios titles perceptron has its own page on applevis

If you’re looking for a game which you can play in the background while doing other things that doesn’t take a lot of time to learn, perceptron is a great option!
